What are the Components of a Roofing System?

Components used in roofing add functionality, quality, security and an attractive appearance or look to the roof. Following are some of the components of roof:
  • Cornices are the points of the roof where the side walls of the house are projected to the roof.
  • Courses are nothing but installation of rows of shingles or tiles horizontally.
  • With the usage of plywood or oriented strand board (OSB), shingles or panels or tiles are attached to the surface of the roof. This is decking and sheathing component of a roof.
  • A dormer is the component of the roof which is surrounded by the windows as well as the sloped roofs but it is not a part of the main portion of the house.
  • Eaves: the lower end of the edges of the roof.
  • Flashing: It refers to metal sheets that can be used on any places of a roof to prevent leakage by diverting water. These sheets can be made of galvanized flashing, a galvanized alloy, copper, lead coated copper or stainless steel.
  • Underlayment - A paper which is used to cover the roof or seal the roof from damage caused by the snow, rain, ice, etc. This sheet is laid on the plywood sheeting. Here the use of a membrane is typically required, a waterproof membrane, a sweat sheet or vapor barrier for extra protection.
  • Shingles or tiles: This is the top most part of the roof. Some materials of tiles or shingles cover the underlayment part of the roof. This gives a finishing touch to the outermost top part of a roof. The usage of tiles is to cover the roof and it became a common roof cover from thousands of years.
There are other components are also there such as trim, frieze board, gable, hip, joist, louvers, rake, and ridge, slope or pitch, Soffit, truss, valley etc.

Designing Interiors with Glasses and Mirrors

Designing interiors with glasses and mirrors is becoming more popular in the world of interior decoration. The right kind of fixtures and fittings with the best color, light and theme that suit the home adds a modern look to the home. Glasses and Mirrors can be used everywhere in the house from table to staircases that adds beauty to the home.

The advantage of using glass at home is that they can mix up perfectly with other material. They are also easy to install and maintain but they are sensitive and have a tendency to break easily. By fixing mirrors in the home help create a bright atmosphere and also enhances the appearance of the room. Mirrors reflect light and placing a few of them in the room makes the room look larger. Mirrors are available in different shapes and sizes which can brighten up any area in the home.

Mirrors are not just for the walls, they can be fixed in any place that adds a little shine and spark to the room. An empty space and holes, if present on the wall can be covered with mirrors. Mirrors create an illumination if placed in dark areas, corners, or closets.

Decorating Interiors with Exclusive Lighting Designs

Designing interiors with exclusive lights is one of the aspects that give an overall look of the room. It is essential to have different lighting designs in a room that helps in setting the ambiance of a space. A right lighting system will transform a dark room into vibrant and bright space that gives an optimistic and positive feeling to the people.

There are two ways by which lighting is made available. Natural lighting is a source of light which comes directly from the sunlight into the home. Many environmental aspects such as time of the day, season and weather influence natural light. Sunlight is a healthy source of light but is less brighter and not as vibrant as artificial light.

Artificial lighting is another source of providing light with different varieties of lamps that are unnatural. They help enhance the appearance of the room with perfect brightness. Lamps can lighten up specific areas of a room and also enable to brighten up many corners and different ends of a room. They are perfect in lightening the room but the intensity and color of the light must be selected that best suits the room.

Lighting is the most important feature for interior decoration and lights must be placed appropriately at required areas in a room since poor lighting may ruin the appearance and interior design of the room. Therefore it should be planned carefully to enhance the ambiance, visibility and they should bring attention to specific areas in a room.
