Gold versus Stock

The performance of gold bullion is often compared to stocks. They are fundamentally different asset classes: gold is a store of value whereas stocks are a return on value (i.e. growth plus dividends). Stocks and bonds perform best in a stable political climate with strong property rights and little turmoil. The attached graph shows the value of Dow Jones Industrial Average divided by the price of an ounce of gold. Since 1800, stocks have consistently gained value in comparison to gold due in part to the stability of the American political system. This appreciation has been cyclical with long periods of stock out performance followed by long periods of gold out performance. The Dow Industrials bottomed out a ratio of 1:1 with gold during 1980 (the end of the 1970s bear market) and proceeded to post gains throughout the 1980s and 1990s. The ratio peaked on January 14th, 2000 a value of 41.3 and has fallen sharply since. William Anton III wrote in the 2004 issue of Jefferson Coin and Bullion "...downward movement in the Dow/gold ratio is unlikely to stop precisely at the mean trend line. The extreme distension of the 90s will likely overshoot to the opposite extreme in the current cycle."

In November 2005, Rick Munarriz of Motley Fool.com posed the question of which represented a better investment: a share of Google or an ounce of gold. The specific comparison between these two very different investments seems to have captured the imagination of many in the investment commuity and is serving to crystallize the broader debate. At the time of writing, a share of Google's stock and an ounce of gold were both near $700. On January 4, 2008 23:58 New York Time, it was reported that an ounce of gold outpaced the share price of Google by 30.77%, with gold closing at $859.19 per ounce and a share of Google closing at $657 on U.S. market exchanges. On January 24th 2008, the gold price broke the $900 mark per ounce for the first time. On January 25, 2008, gold and platinum prices claimed historic highs of 919.80 and 1,634.50 dollars per ounce, respectively.

Hair straightening and Precautions after undergoing treatment

Alkaline perms give a strong, firm curl and have an active ingredient called ammonium thioglycolate. On the other hand, acid-balanced perms are gentler and have a significantly lower ph. Acid-balanced perms are ideal for people who have fragile, sensitive or damaged hair.

So you are tired of your naturally curly hair or frizzy locks and want that poker straight hair? Then straightening is the solution for you. Hair straightening should always be performed by a hair care professional with a good track record of straightening.

Various Treatments
A trained, experienced professional should carry out permanent or chemical hair straightening. This chemical makes the sulfur bonds in hair to separate and allows the hair to take a new shape. Flattening or straightening irons are used to give a new shape to the hair.

The thermal reconditioning process invented in Japan has excited women all over the world. It restructures the hair bonds in a way that it lends a straight and glossy appearance to the hair. After the chemical is applied to the hair, the professional stylist painstakingly irons the hair, almost strand by strand.

The hair is then rinsed and blown dry. People with colored hair are not suitable for this type of hair straightening process. It is expensive and can take hours to complete the process.

Ionic treatment is ideally suited for people with highlighted and colored hair. It leaves hair soft and silky as ions used in the solution put moisture back into hair. The treatment lasts about five hours.

Hair straightening irons have ceramic-coated plates that distribute heat evenly and prevent any damage to the hair. Straightening irons offer different heat settings to suit various hair types.

Precautions after Undergoing Treatment
After undergoing hair straightening treatment make sure to use a mild shampoo and a deep conditioner so that the hair is well moisturized and well protected. Stay away from any heat-styling tools to prevent any damage to the hair. Use a wide-toothed comb for the hair after the straightening treatment. A little care will go a long way in maintaining the straightened tresses.

Visual learners and Techniques of visual learning

Visual learners are those who hear things better through seeing them. Visual learning students care to hold a heart on the instructor by sitting in the face of the course and watching the speech intimately. Often, visual learners will discover that data "clicks" when it is explained with the assistance of a chart or image. Have you always drawn pictures of a biology procedure as you studied for an examination? This may be a signal that you have instinctively practiced visual education techniques. Look over the characteristics below to view if they say conversant. The characteristics of visual learners are as follows:
  • A visual learner is good at spelling but forgets names.
  • Needs quiet study time.
  • Has to think awhile before understanding a speech or lecture.
  • Likes colors & fashion.
  • Dreams in color.
  • Understands/likes charts.
  • Is good with sign language.
There are some of the Techniques related to visual learners such as:
  • Draw a map of events in history or draw scientific process.
  • Make outlines of everything!
  • Copy what’s on the board.
  • Ask the teacher to diagram.
  • Diagram sentences!
  • Take notes make lists.
  • Watch videos.
  • Color code words, research notes.
  • Outline reading.
  • Use flashcards.
  • Use highlighters, circle words, underline.

Procrastination and Types of procrastinators

Procrastination is a type of avoidance behavior that is characterized by deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite it as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision.

The Relaxed Type:
The relaxed types of procrastinator’s view their responsibilities negatively and avoid them by directing energy into other tasks. This type of procrastination is a form of denial or cover-up; therefore, typically no help is being sought. The procrastinator avoids situations that would cause displeasure, indulging instead in more enjoyable activities.

The "Genius" Procrastinator:
Genius procrastinator is a type of "relaxed" procrastinator. Unlike the typical "relaxed type" procrastinator, who usually does not care about the task they are delaying, geniuses do care but do not need to put a great deal of effort into that task to do well, and therefore can wait until the last minute, put in minimal effort, and still produce a good result. "Genius" procrastinators often work well under pressure; oftentimes, when they do not have a deadline set for a project, their work lags. Other "genius" procrastinators are just lazy with their time in general, and when they're procrastinating in a subject that they are not as skilled at, they usually fall under the "tense-afraid" type.

The Tense-Afraid Type:
The tense-afraid type of procrastinator usually feels overwhelmed with pressure, unrealistic about time, uncertain about goals and many other negative feelings. Feeling that they lack the ability or focus to successfully complete their work, they tell themselves that they need to unwind and relax, that it's better to take it easy for the afternoon. Usually have grandiose plans rather than being realistic. Their 'relaxing' is often temporary and ineffective, and leads to even more stress as time runs out, deadlines approach and the person feels increasingly guilty and apprehensive. This behavior becomes a cycle of failure and delay, as plans and goals are put off, penciled into the following day or week in the diary again and again. It can also have a debilitating effect on their personal lives and relationships. Since they are uncertain about their goals, they often feel awkward with people who appear confident and goal-oriented, which can lead to depression. Tense-afraid procrastinators often withdraw from social life, avoiding contact even with close friends.

Increase Search Engine Rank With Link Popularity

automotive seo
To start with, let me first explain you what is link popularity. Link popularity score is the total number of links available to your website from other websites. These external links to your website will count in giving link popularity score to your website. The search engine spiders also should index those websites giving external links to yours website. The higher the PR and Alexa ranks for the websites giving links to yours website, the higher the score your website scores. These externals links increase search engine ranking of your website. Even other websites giving link your website come under these rules. Their link popularity also is taken into consideration in getting PR and Alexa ranks. Search engines use link popularity to score pages because they consider it a sign of a high quality site. Unless some site has no reason, no other site would give external link to it. It takes, as the site with lot of external links will contain valuable content. So don’t wait till some search engine crawls your website and get indexed on its database. The drawback of the link popularity is it doesn’t excuse new websites. Even if the website has some outstanding stuff in it with valuable and organized content, search spiders takes time to publicize the new website and collect links. It would be fine if you collect some sites related to yours and compile a list of sites likely to be interested in linking to your site.

Decorating On A Budget

I used to stay with my business partners at the initial days of my business setup. I had some bad days, having no money for apartment rent, which I owned in last summer, was one of the great achievements after all the hurdles and tough days I had in my life. I have then decided to stay in that apartment or never sell it in my life, as it was my first achievement. It was about the decoration of my apartment with little to limited budget. I want to furnish and decorate it, but that needs some way to do it, as by which I should see that my finances are not drained up. Let me give you suggestions on how to decorate on the limited budget you have.

First and foremost thing that you need to do is to decide on the style of the decoration you want to have. It is absolutely up to you to choose the style from the western, French or your own style. But you will need to know what it will look like before you completely decide on it. The best way to do this is to start small. Once you have decided on a style that you want, pick a room that will be easy and cost effective to decorate. Perhaps a bedroom, a bathroom or another small, out of the way room.

You can experiment with different looks this way, as well. Starting with the bedroom is one of the best options. This way you can decide exactly what you want, without having to decorate areas that visitors will see. You can pick and choose between different styles and find one that works the best for you, without having to worry about the cost of changing things throughout the entire apartment.

Buying a Car at Auctions

Recently one of my friends bought a car in an auction. What is the thing to consider is the price he paid for it. Unbelievably he got the car at nearly 45 per cent discount price which is a really dead cheap for what he got. But when he made a check on the car with a mechanic, he found some considerable repairs to be made for a smooth ride.

Though that didn’t cost much for his pocket, there is nothing like saving when he calculated the price of the car and the repairs done to it. But at the end my friend left with a good experience in buying a used car that too at the public auctions. Here are the two important benefits of buying a car at the auctions according to him.

At auctions the bid starts at a dead cheap price, some times at 70 to 90 per cent discount. You will be lucky if you got the deal at that price. The closure of the bid may end at a higher note depending on the participants in the auction and on the car like the make, model, history and usage etc.

One more thing is you can get a rare model at the auctions and in some cases the imported ones. If you have a make and model in mind, check online auctions for that, you have a better chance to find it there.

Mentorship In The Organizations

Mentorship refers to a developmental relationship between a more experienced mentor and a less experienced partner referred to as a mentee or protege -- a person guided and protected by a more prominent person.

There are two types of mentoring relationships: formal and informal. Informal relationships develop on their own between partners. Formal mentoring, on the other hand, refers to assigned relationships, often associated with organizational mentoring programs designed to promote employee development. In well-designed formal mentoring programs, there are program goals, schedules, training (for mentors and mentees), and evaluation. Mentors inspire their mentee to follow their dreams. There are many kinds of mentoring relationships—from school- or community-based relationships to e-mentoring relationships.

In 1990, Mentor created The Elements of Effective Practice, a crucial tool for state and local mentoring organizations matching mentors and youth mentees in formal, high-quality mentoring relationships of all kinds. Revised and updated several years later with a companion toolkit, The Elements guidebook reflects the latest in quality mentoring research, policies, and practices.

For example, in some programs, newcomers to the organization (protégés) are paired with more experienced people (mentors) in order to obtain information, good examples, and advice as they advance. It is considered that new employees who are paired with a mentor are twice as likely to remain in their job as those who do not get mentorship.

In other cases, mentoring is used to groom up-and-coming employees deemed to have the potential to move up into leadership roles. Here the employee (protégé) is paired with a senior level leader (or leaders) for a series of career-coaching interactions. A similar method of high-potential mentoring is to place the employee in a series of jobs in disparate areas of an organization, all for small periods of time, in anticipation of learning the organization's structure, culture, and methods. A mentor does not have to be a manager or supervisor to facilitate the process.
