Long Term Effects Of Stimulant Addiction

The reactions of stimulant abuse are highly dangerous. Consuming high doses of a stimulant may lead to an irregular heartbeat, harmful high body temperatures, and possibility of cardiovascular failure or seizures. If some stimulants are taken in high doses repeatedly for a small period of time, it may lead to aggression or feelings of mental illness in some individuals.

Stimulants should never be combined with antidepressants or OTC cold medicines that consists of decongestants. Antidepressants will increase the effects of a stimulant, and stimulants mixed with decongestants can lead to dangerously high blood pressure or irregular heart beat.

Long term effects of stimulant addictions are:
  • When the addicted individual proceeds to abuse stimulants, the body will start developing a tolerance to them. Body will try to take more and more of the stimulant to produce the desirable effect. When more amounts of drugs are used, the individual is more prone to harmful health hazards.
  • Stimulant abuse generates a huge amount of strain on the heart, which can result in heart failure, or occurrence of an irregular heartbeat.

Sometimes, an individual addicted to stimulants for longer period of time will become aggressive or unfriendly without warning. Stimulant addicted individual can be easily spotted, as they are always tensed or restless.
