Instructions to Check the Background of a Nanny

Generally, working parents hire a nanny to take care of their children. Nanny should take care of children thoroughly in the absence of parents for a long time. So, parents should choose a right nanny for their child. Before they hire, parents should check her background in the form of criminal activities, driving, activities, family background, reference check and etc., to get furthermore information about nannies. There are few instructions to check the background of a nanny, such as:
  • At least three references should be asked for nanny. One need to contact each of them to know about nanny details, from how long she worked there, how did she perform, again will they hire her, if it is possible, do they recommend to hire her as a nanny, these questions should be asked by parents or employer before hiring a nanny.
  • If you cannot contact the listed people then you can ask for more references to get sufficient information about nanny.
  • Check out whether she filled out an application with location and her date of birth, driving license number, Social Security Number, any previous names, last five employers, their names, addresses, phone numbers, others which you want.
  • You can tell her that you are going to do the background check and ask her to sign to get authorization to do that.
  • You can check whether they are relatives to her are not by making a call to them. Check the information which was given by her is correct or not by making a call to her previous employers.
  • You can perform background check through different online services which are available. Finally, you should get basic information to verify.
These are the instructions to check the background of a nanny before you hire a candidate for a nanny position.

What is Internal Recruitment?

Internal recruitment is a process of recruiting people within the organization. It is also defined as the practice of selecting candidates among present company workers to fill a position that becomes vacant. Workers in organization come to know about internal vacancies through many ways. The vacancies are generally advertised within the organization through a variety of media like Staff notice boards, Intranets, In-house magazines / newsletters (for a particular business), weekly staff magazine dedicated completely for advertising jobs within the organization, and Staff meetings.

Internal sources of recruitment in an organization may be current permanent employees, current temporary or casual employees or retired employees or descendants (children) of deceased (expired), disabled, retired and present employees. The Internal recruitment requires power from HR processes, because poor internal recruitment process can lead to dissatisfied managers and employees in the organization. The succession planning with strong and steady performance management are required to ensure the success of the internal recruitment.

Internal job candidate should be familiar to the organization. And the HRM function provides the required background information (qualifications and achievements) for the hiring manager.

Hiring Top Talent Means More Profit, A Bad Hire Is Worse

If the company hires top talented candidate for the position, that person will performs well, contributes well, gives more productivity and also gives profits to the company. But the wrong person costs plenty. According to Harvard Business Review, bad hiring decisions result into 80 percent of turnover.

The bad hiring decision of the company costs so much of money. The wrong person will also decrease the productivity and it is loss to the organization. Not only the money but also it wastes the organization time also on giving training to wrong persons. So the recruiters and organization also should take care, while making the hiring decision.

Hiring top talent will gives more profit and a bad hire gives loss and it is also worse. To avoid bad hire it is important to assess the candidate skills, behavior, abilities, and job related skills, in the interviewing process itself before making the hiring decision. The reference checks and background checks plays major role to know more facts about the candidate, when making the hiring decision.
