Guidance for Parents to Teach Creative Thinking to Children

Parents can teach children to improve their children' creative thinking. Creative thinking is a skill that is used to create new ideas, explore possibilities, develop and expand the new concepts. Everyone is aware that creative thinking skills are not encouraged by home environment with TV, cell phones, and MP3 players and others. These are few ideas for parents to teach their children creative thinking:

Restrict few things: Parents need to restrict few things like TV, using computer, cell phones in the home. Passive thinking is encouraged by all of these devices. Now a days children are spending less time on playing activities, but they are spending much time on entertainment sources. They need to engage on physical activities, creative plays which help them to build their brains. Explain about harmful effects of watching TV, playing too many video games.

Creative thinking tools:
Children are allowed to make things, create, or build something new, like building blocks, clay, encourage to explore their own interests and explore the nature of cause and effect, by toys and activities.


Allow them to solve the problems: If children face any challenges then parents must allow them to solve or find out the solution themselves with out involving into the matter. It may not be easy, child may initially struggle to solve it. But that problem or challenge should be matching their capabilities. By this child gets confidence and ability to think creatively. If child can not find the solution or he takes long time to think then parents can help him.


These are few guidelines to help parents improve creative thinking of their children.
