Types of spoofing

There different types of spoofing methods. They are
  • In Blind Spoofing, the cracker or attacker can fake his identity by injecting data into the stream of packets without authenticating himself.
  • In Non-blind spoofing, by detecting the line for current transmissions the attacker can hijack discussions that have already been built by avoiding any sort of authentication.
  • In Denial-of-service attack, the attacker can send the attacks by disguising the source and making it difficult to close it off.
  • In Man in the middle attack, a malicious or mischievous machine interrupts the packets sent between the two machines without knowing to each of them that their communications have been tampered or manipulated.
  • In Homograph Spoofing, the internationalized domain name (IDN) homograph attack is a means by which a mischievous party may cheat computer users about what remote system they are interacting with, by manipulating many different characters may have nearly (or wholly) duplicate glyphs (glyptic art in the form of a symbolic figure). This type of spoofing attacks are known as homograph spoofing attacks.
In order to get protected from these attacks, Turn off your computer or disconnect its ethernet interface when you are not using it.

Money Saving Tips of Budget

To start saving money, maintain a record of needs where the dollars can be trimmed. Start with the biggest items first, where there are more chances of savings, and proceed to the less expensive items. First, wants and needs need to be differentiated. If you don't misunderstand wants for needs, then so much of money can be saved. Needs are those items that are necessary to live, like Shelter, food, clothing, transportation and they are simple to identify. Wants are those items that enhance or possibly improve our family life. Select things that are costs less and better in quality. We opt for the $100 dinner at the modern or style restaurant when a $20 meal would have been just as delicious. This does not save money.

Think about where and how you are spending the family money, to see if there couldn't be savings found with minor changes in habits. Before buying any thing, try it. This helps indirectly to avoid the silly purchases of things you barely or never use. Before you want to buy something, especially items with big price tags, borrow one, rent one, or try one out before you spend the cash. A moderate savings on one of the big items (houses and cars) combined with savings on the smaller items (food, clothes, etc.) can gain a large reward in your total budget.

All about Hair Alcohol Tests

Hair grows by absorbing special markers called Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) and Fatty Acid Ethyl Esters (FAEEs). These markers remain indefinitely long in the hair as long as the person doesn't shave or cut his or her hair. Since the FAEE and EtG markers are only produced when there is alcohol in the blood, more markers indicates that the individual has consumed more alcohol. Extensive research has established a baseline for EtGs and FAEEs regarding the drinking patterns of different kinds of people such as heavy drinkers, social drinkers, and non-drinkers. Only scalp hair leads to an accurate alcohol assessment. The test fails if the person has short hair (less than 1/2”) or if the person shaves his or her head. One of the advantages of hair tests is that the accuracy can be accurate up to several months back, if not years. This technique was not popular until 2008, being used only for drug testing until then.

These tests are many times costlier than urine testing methods and are relatively a non-intrusive method of alcohol testing. They require a sample of hair approximately the diameter of a pencil and about 1.5inches long. There has been no adulterant discovered that can alter the results of the blood alcohol. The advantage is that they have a long window of detection, offer greater stability, provide convenient shipping and storage requiring no refrigeration and are impossible to adulterate.

They are relatively expensive, unpopular. They will also not work on hair less than 1/2” or 1” long,if the person shaves his head or the test is performed on body hair and it cannot be performed on a single hair no matter how long the hair is.

All about Breath Alcohol Tests

They are the most common forms of breath alcohol testing. They do not directly measure the blood alcohol content but indirectly measure the amount of the alcohol in the person's breath. In addition to detecting the alcohol in the alcohol beverages, they detect the alcohol in other substances having a similar molecular structure. They could result in false readings caused from cell phones, police radios, electrical interference, moisture, dirt, and tobacco smoke. Further, the compounds found in gasoline, paint removers, cleaning fluids, celluloids and lacquers. The presence of blood, vomit, or alcohol can lead to false BAC results. Holding a person's breath, hyperventilation, or false exercise can also lead to false readings. Failure to recalibrate the instrument when necessary may lead to false readings.

All about Saliva Alcohol Tests

The amount of alcohol in the person's saliva is a good measure of the amount of saliva present in the person's blood. Considering the fact that the concentration of alcohol in saliva is very likely to be similar to the blood alcohol content in the blood, saliva test is a preferred method of measuring alcohol to the blood alcohol test. They are slightly expensive than urine testing, but less than hair or blood testing. They are relatively non intrusive and are becoming more common compared to other forms of testing. They can detect the use of alcohol in the past one day or so.

Pros of Saliva Tests: In these tests, samples are acquired under direct observation, present a minimal risk of tampering, and save patients the discomfort of repeated vein punctures. They are non-invasive and present no risk of thrombosis, infection, or anemia. The total testing costs are low since no special staff training is required for sample collection. They not only detect alcohol use but also reflect recent drug use and provide a short window of detection approximately 10 to 24 hours.

Cons of Saliva Tests: They have some limitation since drugs and drug metabolites do not remain so long in the saliva as they do in urine. They are less efficient in detecting marijuana use.

All about Blood Alcohol Testing

The blood alcohol test measures the amount of alcohol that is present in the blood at the time a blood sample is taken. Consequently, the test does not determine how long the individual has been drinking and does not necessarily show whether the person has a drinking problem or not. Since a few medicines can alter the blood test results, people undergoing an alcohol blood test need to inform the doctor, the agency or the person administering the test about all the prescription or non-prescription medicines he has been taking recently. In addition to that, people taking medicines for blood-thinning or has clotting or bleeding problems, then he or she has to inform the individual or entity taking the blood sample about their problems before the blood sample is taken.

The Blood Alcohol Testing is one of the most accurate methods for testing the amount of alcohol in a person's blood. But they are also one of the most expensive methods of testing a person's blood alcohol content. Owing to their high cost and intrusiveness, this method is the least common method for testing alcohol in a person's blood.

All about Urine Alcohol tests

They are the least expensive of the alcohol testing methods, and can be used by parents at home also. They are considered an intrusive method of alcohol testing and the results can be affected by abstaining from drinking for a period of time before the test. They detect any alcohol ingestion within the past one-week or may be even longer. They are temperature tested to assure sample integrity and indicate the amount of alcohol in the person's system but taking two hours for the alcohol to show up in the person's urine.

Pros of Urine Tests: These tests have a high assurance of reliable results, relatively inexpensive, provide the most flexibility in testing different drugs and are most likely to withstand legal challenge.

Cons of Urine Tests: The specimen can be adulterated, substituted, or diluted thus affecting the results. They have a limited window of detection, which ranges from 1 to 5 days and are considered as invasive or embarrassing form of alcohol testing. They pose a biological hazard when they are shipped to the lab. A positive urine test does not mean that the person was under the influence of alcohol during the time of the test, but rather, it detects the measure and use of alcohol within the previous day or so, and with some special testing methods, up to 80 hrs.

Alcohol Testing Techniques in U.S

In the United States, alcoholism or alcohol abuse is associated with half the automobile fatalities and almost half of the industrial accidents. As a result of this, there is a growing demand for more effective alcohol testing, screening and detection methods in the American workplace. Factually, there are 5 different types of alcohol tests: urine tests for alcohol, blood alcohol tests, alcohol breathalyzer tests, saliva alcohol tests, and hair alcohol tests.

Interestingly, hair alcohol testing is a relatively new development. Until 2008, hair tests could not detect alcohol and were only used for detection of drugs other than alcohol. And since hair tests can accurately and reliably identify an individual's blood alcohol level, it would appear that the hair test would become more popular in the alcohol and drug testing methodologies in the coming days.

Tools To Report Spam

Tracking the spammer's ISP and reporting the wrongdoing can lead to the spammer's service being terminated. However, unfortunately it is difficult for us to track down a spammer and though few online tools are there to assist, they are always not accurate. It is on a rare occasion that a spammer employs his own netblock. In this case, the contact address for the netblock is the spammer himself and he can confirm your address. Examples of such online tools include Spamcop and Network Abuse Clearinghouse. They provide fully automated or semi automated means to report spam to ISPs. Some experts consider these inaccurate. A useful free tool known as Complainterator is also available. This tool sends an automatically generated complaint to the registrar of the spamming domain and the registrar of its name servers. Historically, reporting spam in this way has not abated spam since spammers simply move to another URL, ISP, or network of IP addresses. Consumers can forward unwanted or deceptive spam to some email addresses maintained by the government such as the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). The database of which is used to bring to book the perpetrators of the crime. One can even contact the registrar of the domain name that has been used in spam e-mail, since they are obliged to uphold certain rules and regulations, and have the resources necessary to deal with abuse complaints.

All about the World Wide Web

World Wide Web is a collection of globally distributed text and multimedia documents and files and other network services linked in such a way as to create an immense electronic library from which information can be retrieved quickly by intuitive searches. The Web represents the application of hypertext technology and a graphical interface to the Internet to retrieve information that is contained in specially formatted documents that may reside in the same computer or be distributed across many computers around the world. It consists of three main elements. The Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) comprises the programming codes, or tags, that define fonts, layouts, embedded graphics, and links (hyper links) to other documents accessible via the Web. The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) defines a set of standards for transmitting Web pages across the Internet. The Universal Resource Locator (URL) is a standardized naming convention for identifying a Web document or file, in a sense the address of a link. The result is called the Web because it is made up of many sites, all linked together, with users traveling from one site to the next by clicking a computer's pointing device on a hyper link.

Web sites, also called Web pages, are really Internet sites that all use the same techniques and HTML tags to create multimedia documents with hypertext links. Each Web page can contain many screens or printed pages of text, graphics, audio, and even video, and the starting point for any Web site is called its home page. Although each page is an Internet site, it must be accessed via a special program called a Web browser, which can translate the HTML into the graphical images, text, and hypertext links intended by the creator of the page.

Steps in the risk management process

Establish the context: It involves the following
  • Identification of risk in a selected domain of interest
  • Planning the remainder of the process.
  • Mapping out the following:
      • The social scope of risk management
      • The identity and objectives of stakeholders
      • The basis upon which risks will be evaluated, constraints.
  • Defining a framework for the activity and an agenda for identification.
  • Developing an analysis of risks involved in the process.
  • Mitigation of risks using available technological, human and organizational resources.
Identification

After establishing the context, the next step in the process of managing risk is to identify potential risks. Risks are about events that, when triggered, cause problems. Hence, risk identification can start with the source of problems, or with the problem itself.
  • Source analysis Risk sources may be internal or external to the system that is the target of risk management.
  • Problem analysis Risks are related to identified threats. The threats may exist with various entities, most important with shareholders, customers and legislative bodies such as the government.
Common risk identification methods: Common risk identification methods include the following
  • Objectives-based risk identification
  • Scenario-based risk identification
  • Taxonomy-based risk identification
  • Risk Charting
  • Common-risk Checking
AssessmentThe fundamental difficulty in risk assessment is determining the rate of occurrence since statistical information is not available on all kinds of past incidents. Furthermore, evaluating the severity of the consequences (impact) is often quite difficult for immaterial assets. Asset valuation is another question that needs to be addressed. Thus, best educated opinions and available statistics are the primary sources of information. Nevertheless, risk assessment should produce such information for the management of the organization that the primary risks are easy to understand and that the risk management decisions may be prioritized. Thus, there have been several theories and attempts to quantify risks. Numerous different risk formulae exist, but perhaps the most widely accepted formula for risk quantification is:
Rate of occurrence multiplied by the impact of the event equals risk

Potential risk treatments
Once risks have been identified and assessed, all techniques to manage the risk fall into one or more of these four major categories:
  • Avoidance
  • Reduction
  • Retention
  • Transfer

Reliability and validity in Quantitative marketing research

Quantitative marketing research is the request of quantitative research techniques to the field of marketing. It has roots in both the positivist view of the world, and the modern marketing viewpoint that marketing is an interactive process in which both the buyer and seller reach a satisfying agreement on the "four Ps" of marketing: Product, Price, Place and Promotion. As a social research method, it usually involves the creation of questionnaires and scales. People who react are asked to complete the survey. Marketers use the information so obtained to understand the needs of individuals in the marketplace, and to make the strategies and marketing plans. Reliability and validity in Quantitative marketing research: Research must be tested for reliability, generalizability, and validity. Generalizability is the capacity to make inferences from a sample to the population. Consistency is the extent to which a calculate will produce consistent results. Test-retest reliability checks how similar the results are if the research is repeated under similar circumstances. Stability over repeated measures is assessed with the Pearson coefficient. Alternative forms reliability checks how similar the results are if the research is repeated using different forms. Internal consistency reliability checks how well the individual measures included in the research are converted into a composite measure. Internal consistency may be assessed by correlating performance on two halves of a test. The value of the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient is adjusted with the Spearman-Brown prediction formula to correspond to the correlation between two full-length tests. A commonly used measure is Cronbach's α, which is equivalent to the mean of all possible split-half coefficients. Reliability may be enhanced by increasing the sample size. Validity asks whether the research measured what it intended to. Content validation checks how well the content of the research are related to the variables to be studied. Are the research questions representatives of the variables being researched. It is an expression that the items of a test are drawn from the domain being measured. Criterion validation checks how meaningful the research criteria are relative to other possible criteria. When the criterion is collected later the goal is to establish predictive validity. Construct validation checks what underlying construct is being measured. There are three variants of construct validity. They are convergent validity, discriminate validity, and nomological validity.

Baroness Helmsley Gives Property To Dogs

The “Queen of Mean” Leona Helmsley seems to be not that mean after all. She has left her multi-billion dollar property to charities and dogs.

The famous baroness of the 1989 tax evasion case has led a controversial life till 2007, when she died of heart attack. She became the heiress of the Helmsley hotels after she married Harry Helmsley in 1972 at the age of 51. Of course, the baronet was of 63 years.

She has developed the real estate property and left an estimated $5 billion worth of property before she died. Then the property was handed over to the trustees, who took this long to configure the distribution of the money.

The baroness could still make a sensation, years after her death, by donating $1 million just for dogs. Though she wanted her entire multi-billion dollar fortune to go for dogs, trustees have decided to give only a small amount to them.

Around $136 million goes to the charity, according to what the trustees have announced. $40 million of it is allocated to the Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center of New York.

Tips For Beautiful Rose Garden

Many people love roses and I personal love to grow them in my garden. Growing gorgeous roses is a fascinating pursuit that a majority of gardeners would like to do. The following are some of the most effective rose gardening tips.

Spring season is the right time to prune the rose plants. The flowering of the Forsythia is a wonderful indicator to step outdoors and trim the rose bushes for roses.

Rose plants require phosphorous and highly enriched nutrients to grow properly. While purchasing plant food check the numbers displayed on them. The number at the center designates the level of phosphorous.

Never use wood chips to produce roses, particularly during a freezing winter. Wood chips need nitrogen to break down. It will deprive the rose bushes of essential nutrients.

Moist the soil before planting rose bushes. Rose plants will flourish quicker if they are saturated in a pail of water for approx. twenty-four hours before planting.

Rose plants with deep roots grow properly and stay alive for more years. Gardeners are aware about the fact that roses require plenty of water to stay alive and grow. But many of them assume that roses require frequent watering. Deep roots enable the rose plants to stay alive in all periods and contribute to its overall well-being.

Kenya Appeals for Emergency Food Aid of $406 Millions

Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki, said that the country is facing a big food crisis and needs and immediate aid from the international donors.

Around one third of Kenya’s 34 million population is into food crisis. The main reason behind this crisis is the drought that hit the nation last year. And there was this post election violence that took lives of around 1000 people and tens of thousands of farmers were displaced from their land.

Actual estimation to fight against the food crisis is 37 billion shillings ($469.5 million). With this money, the government can deal with the emergency need of the nation till August. The Kenyan Government has already set aside 5 billion shillings ($63.4 million) for the cause. It goes to the International donors for the remaining 35 billion shillings ($406 millions).

The agriculture sector of Kenya is struggling with corruption, which the country may have to tackle first.

Cleaner Air Increases Life Expectancy

It might be good to know that the live expectancy rate of Americans has increased since three years. And what contributes to this is the cleaner air in US cities.

Well, even I felt amused to hear that American cities have cleaner air. I must show this news to all those people of the world who say that America is increasing the pollution in the world. This would definitely appeal that Americans are the world’s most environmental conscious people of the world.

Well there was a research conducted on how clean our air is, which showed good results. There was a significant decrease in the concentration of fine particles per cubic meter to 10 micrograms per cubic meter. This is just enough to increase the life expectancy to a round 7 months. The overall drop in the pollution resulted in increase of 15 percent in the life expectancy rate of 15 U.S cities.

And very soon, you don’t have to plan your vacation in distant beaches for fresh air. It will be readily available in the city you live in.

"Best Job in the World" Ad, Crashes the Website Server

My professor used to stay that people don’t get paid for enjoyment. I wish he had seen that advertisement in islandreefjob.com.

It says that you get paid million dollars for just a job which is much alike enjoying a holiday in a tropical island of Australia. I say this is a dream job for any person.

Well, this has drawn the interest of millions of people around the world. The people range from Olympic medal winner in Switzerland to Teenage Sun-seekers of Britain. According to Queensland Tourism, at least 200 people are accessing the website every minute and most of them are applying for the job. This over-curiosity resulted in over-response, which in turn resulted in a crash of the web server for many times.

The web site offers a salary of $105,000, for six months job. All you have to do is go scuba diving, snorkeling and hiking and enjoy at least 25 nearby island resorts. And then you will have to write your experiences into a blog.

You will be provided a luxurious home to live in and outstanding transportation facilities to explore the island.

Feeling Hungry? Let’s Walk By the Street

When you are into a serious driving and are feeling hungry and home is still far away, what do you do?

If you are not a rich person, you would definitely stop by a street-side vendor and dig into a hot dog. (I do that even I don’t feel hungry)

The best thing about the street-side food is that it costs us so low. And I am ready to pay even double the amount for such delicious food.

US is a great place to set up a street-side food business and run it in good profits. People here don’t care for obesity or any other side affects that can cause due to junk food. They just love eating and keep eating as long as their stomach is ready to burst.

This is the same reason why we find many street-side vendors happy with their business in US.

The most popular junk food found street-side is Ice-cream where they sell them in trucks.

Oil Addiction: Addiction We Are Not Aware Of

You have come out of your house, now you have to go to your work place. Except for your work place is at a walk-able distance, I am sure you are going to have some vehicle to reach your workplace on time.

This is not just one example of oil addiction. Say, how do you cook your food with out your stove on? Perhaps not everybody is going to use a Microwave oven; not all the time. Even the usage of Microwave oven is somehow related to oil usage in it. This is how the biggest addiction worldwide is going on legally and ruling the pollution of the environment.

“Foolish logic”, said one of my learned friend when I said this to him,”you can’t live without breathing for even a minute (or two, lets assume). Does that mean that you are addicted to breathing?”

You cannot live without air, its OK; but you can live without oil, without your car, whatever it is running on oil, but you are still not trying to live without it. Then why cannot I call it addiction.

The thing here is that Addiction is not an offensive word; addicting to wrong habits is.

It is bad if you addicted to drugs, videogames, smoking. But it’s OK if you are addicted to Electricity. It is OK if you are addicted to Oil. You are trying to enhance your life through it.

But still you are addicted.

What Is Feeding Information Explosion?

Information explosion – this term has become very popular these days. Many people today are not much concerned about population explosion compared to information explosion.

It is estimated that 245 people are born and 102 people die each minute (approximately). So it adds up to 347 records every minute in the form of entries.

Guess - at this moment how many of them are shopping in shops and markets where they record information of the consumer transaction. The number is big and hard to guess. This adds up to some more hundreds of shopping records every minute.

Hospitals are a very sophisticated these days. They have improved the average life of a human being to 65 years from 40 years. How many people are taking treatment in hospitals where every small detail of the patient is recorded? This adds up to some tens of records (lets assume) for every minute.

News sources are updated every minute. It is not one website or one news channel or one newspaper. There are thousands of them which many times record the same news but in respective data bases.

When all the information is added together, you can know what is feeding information explosion.
