Interviewing Teenage Babysitters

Before hiring a teenage babysitter, the candidate must be compulsorily interviewed and must check all the parameters in the checklist, which consist of qualities you desire from a babysitter. Some basic information like full name, age, address and phone number, and minimum of two references with whom you can interact must be obtained from applicant. Interviews with teenage babysitters will be probably a bit less formal. The questions to be asked, either in phone contact or in an actual interview are:
  • Do you have any younger brothers or sisters you care for? What are their ages?
  • Do you have experience in babysitting of other children? If so, how old were they and how much period of time did you babysit for them?
  • Have you done any babysitter training, first aid, or any CPR course?
  • Tell me about school. How are your grades? What activities are you interested in?
  • What do you do in your leisure time? Do you possess any hobbies or other jobs?
  • What are feelings of your parents about your babysitting?
  • Which things you like best about babysitting and being with kids? What do you like least?
  • Which kind of activities you enjoy doing with children?
  • Are you aware of what to do in case of an emergency?
  • What is the most difficult situation you have experienced while babysitting? How did you manage it?
  • How much do you charge and what hours are you available?
  • Do you have any questions for me?
