The occurrence of toothaches can be prevented if proper oral hygiene is taken.

Some of the common causes of toothaches include:

Tooth abscess: It develops when the pulp of the tooth is infected. It comprises of pus in the tissues of jawbones at the apex of the infected tooth root. If the dental cavity is untreated and advanced gum disease causes tooth abscess which results in toothaches.

Gum disease: This occurs when the soft tissue or pulp in the mouth gets infected due to build up of bacteria and tartar along the gum line. With the presence of toothaches there will also be bleeding of gums due to gum disease.

Wisdom teeth: This is a very common toothache seen in many people which is caused if the tooth appears through the gums inside the mouth but is unable due to enough space or if it is in undesirable position.

In addition to this there are other causes of toothaches such as Teeth grinding, cracked or broken tooth, sinus cold and jaw disease. If you encounter any toothaches you should consult a dentist to find a cause and then choose an appropriate treatment to ease your toothaches and discomfort.
