Know About the Different Types of Roofs for Your Home

There are different types of roofs for designing and constructing a building. Depending on the climatic conditions of a local place, the type of roof is selected. Remember that, neither cost determines the quality of the roof nor all the products will meet the home needs.

Mansard roof:
This is that type of roof which is made up of four slopes. Two on each side of the home. Mansard roof has a flat surface at the top instead of being triangular.

Gambrel:
This is similar to Mansard. Gambrel roof has vertical gable ends and is usually two sided symmetrical roof with two slopes on each side.

Saltbox:
This type of roof is similar to gable roof, but two sides of the roof are asymmetrical. One plane of the roof may be longer and have greater slope.

Pyramid:
This type of roof is shaped like a pyramid. It is a square structure with hip roof. Used for small structures.

Bonnet:
Same as pyramid roof. The difference is that two of the sides slope out an angle. It is best used to cover a veranda or outdoor porch area.
